Did you know that it IS possible to resolve building odour complaints? If you are receiving complaints from residents about odours being transferred throughout the building, and even if you have tried in the past to have them resolved, weatherstripping suite doors is not the answer!
A critical aspect of building HVAC performance is the ability to deliver fresh exterior air to each suite. Fresh air is a Building Code requirement and critical for human health. Air being forced IN to the suites is a fire safety issue – it keeps smoke in the affected suite. Suite doors should not be weatherstripped. If residents are doing this to address drafts or odours, a better solution is to address the sources of the drafts and thus, odours.
Our methodological approach, and understanding of building systems will fully identify sources or building air leakage. Using our “House Doctor” approach, the diagnosis and repair can occur at the same time, minimizing disruption and demonstrating immediate results. Air sealing work is critical to the performance of the building mechanical systems. Often, air sealing repairs will improve building energy performance, offering an excellent return on investment from the energy savings.

” My condominium Board retained Truman Engineering Services to repair a leak in my unit after eight years of unsuccessful attempts by a series of contractors and one major engineering firm. Their methodical approach, attention to detail and communication with the client were invaluable in reaching a successful resolution to the problem. If Truman Engineering Services were contacted from the beginning we would saved a significant amount of time and money. Recommended without reservation.”
