This entire project was designed and delivered by Truman Engineering, working with our related company, AtenRa Solar Energy. The rooftop solar hot water system was implemented as part of an energy efficient building retrofit, sponsored by Toronto Atmospheric Fund (link to). Truman designed the light gauge steel framing system to support the evacuated glass tube collectors using a proprietary light gauge steel clip system, called Integra, also used in our Ritchie Street project (link). This system has gone on to support solar systems worldwide. We also provided the mechanical design for the drainback solar hot water system, which was designed to pre-heat the building’s incoming domestic water.
