Senior Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a senior building engineer and project manager to assist us in delivering building restoration projects throughout the GTA. The successful candidate will be an intimate part of a small and growing team of expert professionals seeking to deliver top quality building projects and improved building value for our clients.
Your key duties will include client liaison and communication, building assessment and reporting, building repairs and construction management. The position reports directly to the president and senior project manager. Senior project manager is expected to successfully manage site and office staff to achieve the project objectives.
Your key skills include an ability to communicate, and interest in project management and planning, a desire to obtain the right result, and an overarching desire to achieve client satisfaction. A P.Eng. designation is an asset, including advanced education. Experience with building envelope, design inspections, testing and restoration is important, as is familiarity with past and existing construction practices and reserve fund planning. You must be able to meet project deadlines, and to communicate effectively with contractors to achieve the project intent.

Junior Project Engineer
We chose engineering in order to apply our Natural Curiosity to resolve problems for the wider world. The buildings industry is an ideal place to achieve our personal and professional objectives. Buildings are sufficiently complex and technical that the limits of our expertise are constantly tested, and requires us to coordinate among many professionals to obtain our Clients’ satisfaction.
Truman Engineering Services is seeking engineering candidates that are interested to apply their technical expertise and thirst for knowledge in the pursuit of developing Solutions for building owners. The position reports to the senior project engineer. Key duties include field review and data collection, report writing, contract review and Construction contract Administration and construction review as part of field work during construction projects, coordination and communication with contractors trades clients and suppliers, and supporting senior engineers and management in the overall administration and operations of a Consulting Engineering practice.
Job Description
The position includes both structural design and buildings-related work, such as condition assessments, capital planning, building repairs and leakage investigations. The general tasks and responsibilities include both office and site work, including: structural design in concrete, steel and wood, construction site inspections, site report preparation, attendance at meetings, preparing agenda and minutes, drafting, knowledge-base building, and various other project execution and control items.
The position reports to the Senior Project Manager / Engineer. Client Contact is through the Project Manager and determined for each project by the Project Manager. The position is expected to have sufficient knowledge of good engineering practice and applicable design codes and standards to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Work will be planned with and reviewed by the Project Manager / Engineer.
The position is expected to adhere to Truman QA Policies and Procedures and at all times act in the Clients’ best interest on each project. Knowledge is to be gathered, developed and maintained in accordance with Truman standards.
Site visits require good physical health and may involve climbing scaffolding, accessing roof areas, riding suspended stages to review building exteriors and other lifts and accessing ALL building areas. Site Safety Training is an asset. Truman will arrange for suspended access training as required.

Specific requirements include:
- Academic: University, B.Sc./B.A.Sc. in civil engineering with emphasis in structural or buildings design.
- Experience: Structural design / buildings restoration experience under licensed P.Eng. preferred.
- Transportation: Own vehicle.
